Abstract

Waste cooking oil is usually thrown away or stored without being processed first. Disposal of waste cooking oil carelessly can be harmful to the environment and also human health. Reusing waste cooking oil into a useful material will reduce negative impacts, for example making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. The aromatherapy candles can be modified with a mango scent which is a local potential of Indramayu Regency. This Community Service (PkM) aims to provide counseling and training in making mango aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. Community Service (PkM) is carried out by involving participants from teachers, Islamic boarding school administrators, and students of SMP AL-Urwatul Wutsqo-Indramayu. This PkM activity consists of two stages, namely the first stage in the form of material delivery activities or socialization and the second stage in the form of training activities in making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil. The delivery of material or socialization was attended by teachers, Islamic boarding school administrators, and 30 students of SMP AL-Urwatul Wutsqo-Indramayu. The socialization activity of making mango aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil was carried out using lecture methods, pre-test/post-test, and interactive discussions. Furthermore, the training activity for making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil was attended by teachers, Islamic boarding school administrators, and 30 students of SMP AL-Urwatul Wutsqo-Indramayu. Where the training activity for making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil was carried out using the mentoring method and direct practice with participants. The making of mango aromatherapy candles from oil was carried out in two stages, namely clarifying used cooking oil and making candles. The results of the PkM training activity for making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil that had been carried out could have a positive impact on the community. The use of used cooking oil as a basic ingredient for making aromatherapy candles has the potential to be developed as an alternative additional source of income for housewives because it has high economic value.
